PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s golf will be back in action as they tee it up Monday in the Dale McNamara Invitational at Cedar Ridge Country Club in Brocken Arrow, Oklahoma.

“After so much time off, we are excited to go out and compete again,” said BYU head coach Carrie Roberts. “I feel like the first couple events showed that we have some room to grow but after our practices the last few weeks, we are definitely trending in the right direction.”

The Cougars began the season with fifth and 12th-place finishes at the USF Intercollegiate and Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship last month. After nearly three weeks away from competition, the BYU women look to jumpstart their season in Oklahoma where they finished fifth a year ago.

Lila Galeai, Berlin Long, Sunbin Seo, Kerstin Fotu and Allysha Mae Mateo will tee it up for the Cougars at the par-72 Cedar Ridge Country Club that will play host to a 13-team field.

Boise State, JMU, Kansas State, Middle Tennessee State, Nebraska, North Texas, Oral Roberts, Sacramento State, Sam Houston State, South Florida, UTSA and host Tulsa will join BYU for the 54-hole championship. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday, October 10th, with the final round being held on Tuesday, October 11th.

The event is named after hall of fame Tulsa women’s golf coach Dale McNamara, who between 1974 and 2000 built the Golden Hurricane program into a national powerhouse. McNamara brought four national championships and five runner-up finishes back to Tulsa. She was named the national coach of the year in 1985, inducted into the NGCA Hall of Fame in 1988, won over 60 tournaments and produced more than 25 All-Americans and multiple LPGA Tour players.

Live scoring for the championship will be available at golfstat.com with score updates being posted to the BYU women’s golf Instagram and twitter accounts.
