Haczkiewicz finishes fourth, BYU sixth at Redhawk Invitational

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — Annick Haczkiewicz finished in solo fourth to lead the Cougars to a sixth-place team finish at the Seattle University Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay, Tuesday.

On a cold, windy day, Haczkiewicz braved the elements to fire a final round 74 good for a 54-hole total of 218 to record her third top-4 finish of the season.

“Annick is such a solid player and she really doesn’t have any weaknesses,” said head coach Carrie Roberts. “She is hitting the ball really well right now and is really great at thinking her way around the golf course to give her the best chance to succeed. She has worked incredibly hard to get where she is now and I’m really proud of her.”

UCLA shot 293-282-301—876 to take the team title by 18-shots over Washington who finished at 30-over-par after rounds of 291-293-310—894. Pepperdine came in third after carding rounds of 300-290-305—895 with Denver two shots back in fifth at 295-299-303—897. The Cougars finished in solo 6th with rounds of 312-296-311—919.

Allysha Mae Mateo shot 15-over-par for the 54-hole event for a total of 79-74-76—231. The senior finished just outside the top-25 in a tie for 27th.

Fellow senior Kerstin Fotu finished in a tie for 29th after rounds of 78-76-80—234. Lila Galeai and Maddie White each finished in a tie for 48th at 20-over. Galeai shot 82-75-79—236 while White, who competed as an individual, posted rounds of 80-77-79—236.

Alexa Udom, who also competed as an individual, shot 80-77-81—238 while Adeline Anderson rounded out the scoring for the Cougars with rounds of 83-81-83—247.

The Cougars have a week off for finals before they tee it up at the WCC Championship at Reflection Bay in Las Vegas.
