FAIRFAX, Calif. — Allysha Mae Mateo led the way for the Cougars, who sit in sixth place after a 9-over 585 on day one of the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Collegiate.

No. 9 ranked San Jose State (281-283—564) jumped out to an early lead in round one and kept the pedal down in round two. The Spartans are 12-under through 36-holes and hold a 14-shot lead over second-place Stanford entering the final round.

Coming off their NCAA record-setting performance last week, No. 1 Stanford (295-283—578) is at 2-over par. After an uncharacteristic 10-over-par opening round, the Cardinal shot 7-under in round two to climb back into contention.

San Francisco (298-281—579) holds the third spot at 3-over while Washington (292-288—580) and Cal (299-284—583) round out the top-5 at 4-over and 7-over respectively. BYU sits in sixth place in the 13-team field, after posting rounds of 292-293—585 on day one.

Mateo had rounds of 69-70—139 and is tied for fourth, just two-shots off the lead. The senior posted a first round 69 which included five birdies and an eagle, followed by a 2-under second round.

Fellow senior Annick Haczkiewicz finds herself in a tie for 17th after shooting 72-73—145. Freshman Addie Anderson is one shot back of Haczkiewicz at 2-over and is tied for 22nd.

Kerstin Fotu and Lila Galeai round out the scoring for the Cougars. Fotu posted rounds of 78-77—155 while Galeai carded 80-79—159.

The Cougars will tee off at 8:30 a.m. PST in the final round with live scoring available at golfstat.com.
