Cougars head to Texas for first spring event
PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s golf kicks off the 2022 spring season at the Texas State Invitational in Kyle, Texas, Feb. 7-8.
The Cougars are coming off a fall season in which they finished top-3 in three of their four events, including wins at the Dick McGuire Invitational and the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championship.
“We are excited to get back out there and compete,” said head coach Carrie Roberts. “The girls have worked really hard during the break and we are excited to compete in important tournaments leading up to the WCC and NCAA championships.”
BYU will open the spring season right where they left off with the familiar lineup of Annick Haczkiewicz, Lila Galeai, Allysha Mae Mateo, Addie Anderson and Kerstin Fotu.
The 2022 edition of the Texas State Invitational will be hosted by Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle, Texas. The par-72 course measures 6,285 yards and winds along the Plum Creek which comes into play on 11 of the 18 holes. The teams will play 36-holes on Monday, followed by the final 18-holes on Tuesday.
The Cougars will tee it up alongside host Texas State, Incarnate Word, Lamar, Little Rock, Sam Houston State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M, Tulsa, Idaho, South Dakota, UT Arlington, UTRGV and UTSA.
