No. 23 women’s golf wraps-up fall season with fifth place finish

TULSA, Okla. — The 23rd ranked BYU women’s golf team concluded its 2021 fall season with a fifth-place finish at the Dale McNamara Invitational on Tuesday.

UNLV posted a 3-under-par team score of 285 to win the tournament by 11 shots over Nebraska who finished in second at 872. Fresno State (882) and Sam Houston State (883) finished in third and fourth respectively with BYU rounding out the top-5 in the 13-team field.

Lila Galeai recorded rounds of 70-74-69—213 to lead the Cougars with a solo third place finish at 3-under par 213. Galeai posted three top-25 finishes and two top 5’s in four tournaments for BYU this fall.

Annick Haczkiewicz finished one shot behind Galeai with rounds of 69-75-70—214 to finish at 2-under par in a tie for fourth. Haczkiewicz recorded three top-25’s and two top-15’s in the fall season.

“Annick and Lila played very solid golf this week,” said BYU head coach Carrie Roberts. “Both have been trending up and it was nice to see them finish so well.”

Allysha Mae Mateo posted a 10-over par 226 to tied for 37th after rounds of 74-76-766. Addie Anderson finished with rounds of 77-78-78—233 and Kerstin Fotu rounded out the scoring for the Cougars with a 54-hole total of 240.

Alexa Udom teed it up as an individual and finished at 8-over par and in a tie for 26th in her first collegiate event after shooting 75-75-74—224.

“Alexa had a solid first collegiate event and will be a great player for us going forward,” said Roberts.

The Cougars finished the fall season with two wins, a third and a fifth place finish in their four events.
