Mateo named to WCC All-Academic Team
SAN MATEO, Calif. – For a second-straight season, BYU’s Allysha Mae Mateo has been recognized for her accomplishments on the course and in the classroom.
Mateo was named to the 2021 West Coast Conference Women’s Golf All-Academic Team, the conference announced on Thursday.
While Mateo was carding a team-low score in eight of ten BYU tournaments this season, she remained focused in the classroom, achieving a 3.96 GPA in BYU’s No. 2 nationally ranked accounting program.
The junior from Honolulu, Hawaii finished the season as the WCC Women’s Golf Player of the Year and received an individual bid to compete at NCAA Regionals.
This is not the first time Mateo has been highlighted for her academic success. Following the 2020 season, Mateo was named to the conference’s All-Academic Team as well as an All-American Scholar by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).
