FAIRFAX, Calif. – BYU women’s golf will continue its spring season at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational on March 8-9.

The 54-hole tournament is co-hosted by San Jose State and San Francisco. First and second round play begins from the Meadow Club on Monday at 7:10 a.m. PST, with the final 18 holes set for a 7:30 a.m. start on Tuesday.

Teeing-off for BYU on Monday will be Allysha Mae Mateo, Kerstin Fotu, Naomi Soifua, Cynthia Tu and Lila Galeai.

The Cougars are coming off their best tournament of the season, a fifth-place finish at The Gold Rush in Seal Beach, California on Feb. 22-23.

Mateo, Fotu and Tu each recorded top-20 individual finishes at The Gold Rush. Mateo’s ninth place was good for her fifth top-10 finish of the season and 10th of her career. Fotu tied for 16th, earning her second career top-20 finish. Tu competed as an individual at The Gold Rush and will rejoin the team in competition for the first time since the Rebel Beach Intercollegiate on Feb. 15-16.

BYU is one of 13 teams competing in the Inkster Invitational. The Cougars’ opponents will include No. 11 Stanford and WCC-foes Pepperdine and San Francisco. Among the field are six golfers ranked in the top-25 of the Golfstat.com NCAA Division 1 Player Rankings. Stanford boasts three of the six, including No. 9 Brooke Seay.

Mateo (No. 102) represents BYU as one of just four WCC women’s golfers ranked in Golfstat’s poll. She will face two nationally ranked WCC counterparts at the Inkster Invitational, including San Francisco’s Annika Borelli (No. 30).
