SAMMAMISH, Wash. — The BYU women’s golf team won the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invite after shooting a combined 607 (+31) through two rounds of play.

"I'm proud of how tough we were," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. "We played through some tough conditions but we were tougher and were able to sneak away with a win."

After Tuesday's second round was canceled due to rain delays, the Cougars shot a third round-low 301 (+13) Wednesday to move from fifth to first place and secure their first tournament win since the 2017-18 season. BYU narrowly edged second-place UC Davis, finishing one stroke ahead of the Aggies. The Cougars closed a nine-stroke gap on Wednesday after UC Davis had come into the day in the lead.

Coming off a first-place finish at the Coeur d’Alene Collegiate, Allysha Mae Mateo tied for second place individually at the Ihlanfeldt Invite after carding a total score of 148 (+4). Mateo recorded the lowest scoring average on the tournament’s par-three holes as well as the second-most birdies with six.

Naomi Soifua came next for BYU, shooting a combined 150 (+6) through the two-day tournament to finish tied for seventh. Soifua posted a tournament-high seven birdies and recorded the lowest scoring average on the course’s par-five holes.

Annick Haczkiewicz recorded her second consecutive top-10 finish after carding a total 151 (+7) and tying for ninth place at the Ihlanfeldt Invite. Anna Kennedy and Kerstin Fotu wrapped up the scoring for BYU, posting total scores of 158 (+14) and 166 (+22), respectively. Kennedy finished tied for 31st while Fotu tied for 49th.

Following the Cougars and UC Davis, Rutgers, Sacramento State and tournament-host Washington rounded out the top-five. WCC foe San Francisco came next, finishing in sixth place.

The Cougars compete next at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Kapolei, Hawaii, Oct. 28-30, for their final tournament of the fall season. Live stats and the leaderboard will be available at GolfStat.com.
