Cougars finish fifth at Entrada
ST. GEORGE, Utah – An 11th-place performance from Anna Kennedy helped BYU women's golf to a fifth-place finish Tuesday at the BYU at Entrada Classic.
"It was another good event for Anna (Kennedy) and it was great to see Annick (Haczkiewicz) play well in the individual spot," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. "We're hoping to build off this week for Mexico, and hopefully have a few more putts drop there."
Kennedy's second-round score of one-under highlighted her tournament as she posted an overall total of three-over. Allysha Mae Mateo also went one-under in the second round and finished tied for 21st overall with a score of seven-over.
The Cougars (+31) recorded scores of 299 (+11), 298 (+10) and 298 (+10) in the three rounds, respectively. They were one of just three teams to break 300 in all three rounds.
Rose Huang shot 10-over for the tournament. Naomi Soifua finished one stroke off Huang's pace, and Maria Bernal Clavijo ended at 25-over.
Annick Haczkiewicz had a couple of solid days playing as an individual, with a final score of eight-over par.
West Coast Conference foes San Francisco (+36) and Santa Clara (+58) took ninth and 13th place, respectively. Southern Utah (+35) tied for sixth, while Utah Valley (+59) placed 14th.
The Cougars next play in the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational in Mexico, beginning March 21.
