Huang tied for fourth after first round of NCAA Tournament
STILLWATER, Okla. — Rose Huang is tied for fourth after the first round of the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship on Friday.
"Rose Huang played solid today," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. "She got up and down really well and put herself on the green where she could make some putts."
Huang carded a 70 (-2) to tie for fourth in the first round. The junior finished on the back nine, carding a -2 34, after shooting even par on the first nine holes. Huang birdied back-to-back holes, nine and 10, as well as two other holes on the back-nine and one on the front nine.
Huang, who currently tied for fourth with Morgan Metraux (Florida State) and Cheyenne Knight (Alabama), is one shot behind Jillian Hollis of the University of Georgia in third. Wake Forest's Jennifer Kupcho is in first individually at 65 (-7).
As BYU has a policy of not competing on Sundays, Huang played her third round on Thursday afternoon. She carded a +2 74, birdying the par -4 10th hole, to count as her score for Sunday’s third round.
Huang continues in the NCAA Championships on Saturday. Live scoring can be found on the women’s golf schedule page.
