
Dalton claims UGA Women's Stroke Play title


SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — 2017-18 BYU women’s golf team captain Kendra Dalton shot even par to claim the Utah Golf Association Women’s Stroke Play Championship title on Thursday at Glenmoor Golf Course.
“I played solid,” Dalton said. “I played better on Wednesday, but had enough to get it done on Thursday. I have been working on implementing some new things and managing myself better. It was cool to see those things work on the course.”
The North Carolina native birdied an outstanding six holes on Wednesday to shoot -2. Dalton, who will be a senior come fall, fired 70-74 (E) in two rounds of stroke play to seal the victory.
After the first round of play on Wednesday, Dalton led teammate Rose Huang by two strokes. Huang shot even par in round one.
Huang fired a second-round 73 to close the gap on Dalton on Thursday and finish in second place at +1.
Last summer, Dalton won the 109th Utah Women’s State Amateur. Dalton will compete in the 110th Utah Women’s State Amateur August 1-4, 2017, at Davis Park Golf Course.
