Roberts, Dalton, Huang and White receive All-WCC honors
SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Junior Kendra Dalton was named West Coast Conference Player of the Year and BYU head coach Carrie Roberts was named Coach of the Year, the WCC announcing its annual postseason league honors Tuesday.
Dalton, Rose Huang and Alexandra White were named to the All-WCC First Team.
No. 27 BYU captured two of the three major postseason honors for the second season in a row.
Dalton is the second Cougar to earn WCC Player of the Year honors (Huang, 2016). Dalton is the WCC’s top-ranked player at No. 81, according to GolfStat.com. The junior tallied six top-10 finishes in the 2016-17 season, and posted a win at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational to go along with three runner-up showings. She carded a season-low 68 at the BYU at Entrada Classic.
Roberts earns WCC Coach of the Year honors for the second-straight year after guiding the Cougars to a remarkable season. The Cougars never posted a team finish outside the top-five in any tournament, won four events and posted six runner-up finishes.
2016 Co-Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year Rose Huang concluded her sophomore year with six top-10 finishes. Huang also tallied two runner-up finishes during the 2016-17 campaign. She fired a season-low 67 in the third round of the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational. The All-WCC first team honor is Huang's second-straight citation.
White, who finished first individually last week at the 2017 WCC Golf Championships held at Riverside Country Club, finished the year with eight top-10 finishes. The senior’s first-team recognition is her third honor in four years.
