No. 27 women edge No. 36 Pepperdine in day two of WCC Championships

PROVO, Utah — Behind three Cougar top-10 individual finishes, No. 27 BYU women's golf edged No. 36 Pepperdine for the top spot on the leaderboard in the second round of the 2017 West Coast Conference Golf Championships at Riverside Country Club golf course on Friday.
Freshman Peter Kuest fired a 67 to help No. 47 BYU men's golf hold on to first place in the second round of the 2017 West Coast Conference Golf Championships at Riverside Country Club golf course on Friday. Kuest is tied for first place while Patrick Fishburn sits in third.
"It was awesome to see us bounce back today," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. "Great teams always come back. We made better decisions in this round and got rid of some of our mistakes."
BYU fired a second round team score of 288 (E) to erase Pepperdine's five-stroke lead after Thursday's first round. Pepperdine is now in second place with a two-day team score of +11.
Rose Huang is in second place at even par through 36 holes. The sophomore, who carded a 73 Thursday, shot 1-under in round two. Huang started off strong on Friday, birdying four out of the first six holes.
Kendra Dalton shot the low round of the day of any competitor, carding a 70. Dalton sits in third place at +1 through 36 holes. The sophomore played bogey free on Friday.
Alexandra White carded 73-74 to shoot 3-over-par in two rounds of play. White is tied for fourth place with Vanessa Ha of San Francisco and Pepperdine's Tatiana Wijaya.
Brooklyn Hocker is tied for seventh place for the Cougars, while Lauren Atkinson sits alone in 17th place. Hocker fired a 1-over 73 and Aktinson shot an 81.
BYU women's golf will compete in the third and final round of the 2017 WCC Golf Championships on Saturday. Play will begin at 9:20 a.m. MDT.
The 2017 WCC Golf Championships held at Riverside Country Club are free and open to the public. Fans can download a map of the course, if they choose to attend. Links to live stats are provided on the BYU women's golf schedule page.
