PROVO, Utah — Kendra Dalton, Alexandra White, Brooklyn Hocker and Lauren Atkinson finished in the top 20 as No. 31 BYU women's golf sits in second place after the first two rounds of the BYU at Entrada Classic on Monday.

"We didn't play as sharp as we would have liked," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said, "But we played better in the second round than we did in the morning. I thought the course was scorable and we didn't take advantage of it. It was nice to see Brooklyn (Hocker) throw down a 70."

The Cougars finished with a total team score of 593 in two rounds. BYU fired 299-294 on Monday. No. 12 Kent State leads all teams by at least 18 strokes, shooting 1-under. West Coast Conference foes Gonzaga and San Francisco shot +34 and +40, respectively.

Dalton and White led BYU, tying for seventh place. Dalton carded 72-76. On the par-3 eighth hole, Dalton chipped on from the fringe, placing the ball within four feet of the pin. The junior made the putt to post even par through eight holes.

White shot 4-over in round one, and finished with an even par second round.

Hocker finished with a 79 in the morning and responded with a 2-under round in the afternoon. She birdied five holes on Monday. On 17, the senior hit an approach shot from 150-yards out and placed the ball within three feet. She followed with a birdie putt to shoot 70 in round two.
