KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Rose Huang and Kendra Dalton tied for 10th place to lead the BYU women's golf team to a fourth place finish at its first fall tournament of the 2016-17 season at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate.

"We had a good showing in our first fall tournament with a very strong field of women's golf programs," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. We got consistent play from our top four players. Everyone did their part and contributed.

The Cougars scored 12-over-par just behind Florida, Illinois and Kent State after three rounds of play.

In the first round, Huang led the Cougars shooting an even par. Senior Brooklyn Hocker shot two-over par followed by Dalton and senior Lauren Atkinson shooting three-over-par on the first round. Senior Alexandra White finished off the first round with four-over-par.

Dalton and White both came out of the second round shooting one-under-par. Huang, Hocker and Atkinson all shot one-over-par to close the second round with their best score of the tournament, 284.

In Tuesday's final round, Dalton shot an even par while Huang and Hocker shot one-over par. White finished shooting two-over par and Atkinson with six-over-par.

Meanwhile, Anna Kennedy and Aiko Leong played well as individuals in the Hobble Creek Fall Classic, in Springville. Kennedy finished in first place shooting a 4-under final-round 67, the lowest single-round score of the tournament. Leong finished tied for 32nd.

The Cougars will continue their fall season Monday and Tuesday Sept. 19-20 in San Jose, California at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational.
