Garner named to All-Region Team
PROVO, Utah — After tying for fourth place at the Division I Baton Rouge NCAA Regional, BYU senior Lea Garner was named to the 2015-16 All-Region Team by the Women's Golf Coaches Association on Tuesday.
Garner shot 3-under at the NCAA Regional event in Baton Rouge, carding a 69 (-3) in the second round of the tournament.
The senior's eight-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole of round three ultimately helped send BYU women's golf to the NCAA Finals in Eugene, Oregon for the first time since the 2006-07 season.
Garner finished the season earning All-WCC first team honors. The Ogden, Utah native recorded three top-5 and top-10 finishes this season. Garner's best finish of the year came at the WCC Championship April 18-20, as she tied for second place with teammate Rose Huang.
The All-Region Teams are compiled of the top-10 individual finishers and ties at each regional event.
Elise Bradley (LSU), Virginia Elena Carta (Duke), Sandy Choi (Duke), Katelyn Dambaugh (South Carolina), Leonie Harm (Houston), Leona Maguire (Duke), Linnea Strom (Arizona State), Charlotte Thomas (Washington), Maria Torres (Florida) and Karolina Vickova (Florida) were named to the team alongside Garner.
