SEAL BEACH, Calif. — Shooting one-under-par on the day, Alexandra White helped the No. 25 BYU women’s golf team to a fifth-place finish at The Gold Rush hosted by Long Beach State, Wednesday.

"This tournament had a good field of teams," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. "Alex played well for us, but overall it was not our best tournament. We'll make the adjustments we need for our next event."

As a team, the Cougars shot 29-over-par throughout the 54 holes of tournament play to finish fifth overall.  BYU shot 12-over-par, eight-over-par and nine-over-par in the three rounds, respectively.

The Cougars finished one stroke behind Colorado State (+28), while finishing 12 strokes in front of West Coast Conference foe Gonzaga.

White concluded the tournament at one-over-par to tie for fifth individually. In today’s round of 18, White birdied four holes and finished the event with 10 birdies overall. This is White’s third top-5 finish of the 2015-16 season.
