BYU's Garner and Hocker make run in 2015 Utah Women’s State Am Championship
SANDY, Utah -- BYU women's golf teammates Lea Garner and Brooklyn Anderson Hocker had an incredible run at the 2015 Utah Women's State Am Championship at Hidden Valley Country Club in Sandy, Utah last week.
Garner, who will begin her senior season at BYU next month, captured medalist honors, shooting a 3-under-par, 69 and a 5-under-par, 67 in her first two round of play. She made it to the semifinals of the competiton.
Hocker, an Idaho Falls native who will be a junior on the BYU golf team this fall, upset defending Utah State Am champion, Sirene Blair, in what lasted to be a 20-hole face-to-face semifinal match, launching herself into the finals. She then lost to Weber State alum, Kelsey Chugg, 5 and 4.
BYU's Kendra Dalton, Lauren Atkinson, Alexandra White and Carly Oldroyd, also competed in the tournament.
