Yacaman, Dalton garner All-America academic honors

PROVO, Utah—BYU’s Maria Yacaman and Kendra Dalton have been named All-America Scholars by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).

A total of 758 women’s collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

Yacaman, a senior from Bogota, Colombia, concluded her senior season with a 3.98 cumulative GPA in information systems. She was named to the 2014-15 West Coast Conference Women’s All-Academic Team. During her final year she finished in the top 20 in two tournaments, tying for 10th place at the Gold Rush Invitational and 12th place at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational. Yacaman took 20th place at the WCC Championships. 

Dalton, a freshman from Wake Forest, N. C., had a 3.57 GPA with a major in business marketing. She competed in 12 tournaments during her first year as a Cougar. Dalton tied for 19th place at the BYU Entrada Classic and had the second-best finish on the team at the WCC Championships in 11th place.
