ST. GEORGE, Utah – Southern California extended its first-place lead after the second round of the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf St. George Regional Championships on Friday.

"Similar to our opening round on Wednesday, we stayed patient today," USC head coach Andrea Gaston said. "I told them to not look at the big picture, but to stay in the moment and give their best on each shot. We are in a good position going into the final round tomorrow. We just need to play our game and keep doing what we've been doing the first two rounds."

USC remained in first (+17) after the second day, 11 strokes below the next team. Stanford moved up three spots to put itself in second (+28). Tied for third place, California and Arkansas both shot 34-over-par.

Annie Park from USC took over first place in the second round, shooting one-over-par. Three players jumped into the top 10 on Friday; Shannon Aubert from Stanford climbed 14 places after shooting 69 to put herself in a tie for second (+2), while Jenny Haglund and Alana Uriell both moved up 10 spots to a six-way tie for sixth (+5).

"Annie did a great job of staying calm," Gaston said. "She hit a lot of good shots and played really consistent golf."

There is a three-way tie for seventh (+43) between SMU, Wisconsin and New Mexico State after day two. Vanderbilt made the most progress in the second round, moving up six spots to a tie for 11th (+48) with Middle Tennessee. San Diego State had the biggest drop, falling four places to 16th (+57).

The third and final round of the regional championships will begin at 8 a.m. MDT on Saturday at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club.
