BYU heads to Long Beach for spring season opener

PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s golf comes off a long break this Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Gold Rush presented by Southern California Ford Dealers, hosted by Long Beach State.

The Cougars are looking to turn heads in the tournament, coming off a recent fourth-place finish last October at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Manua, Hawaii, where Lea Garner came in sixth overall.

BYU will be among an 11-team field, including Boston College (ACC), Cal Poly (Big West), Cal State Fullerton (Big West), Colorado State (Mountain West), Hawai'i (Big West), Fresno State (Mountain West), Long Beach State (Big West), Portland State (Big Sky), UC Irvine (Big West) and UC Riverside (Big West).

The two-day, 54-hole touranment will take place at the par-72, 6,097-yard Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, California. First- and second-round action is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 9, followed by final round play concluding Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Both days will begin with a shotgun start, with Monday starting at 8:30 a.m. PST and Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m. PST. Live scoring will be available on the BYU schedule page.
