Garner named WCC Women's Player of the Month
PROVO, Utah - Junior Lea Garner was named West Coast Conference Women's Player of the Month for October, the league announced on Thursday.
In two tournaments BYU women’s golf played during October, Garner finished in the top 10 both times. She led the team to sixth and fourth in the two tournaments. Garner recorded a 71.83 scoring average in October. This is her first time winning WCC Player of the Month.
Garner shot 69 in the first two rounds of the NM Aggie Invitational, rounding out the tournament by shooting 72 in the third round. She finished that tournament in fourth place and shot six-under-par. The Cougars took sixth place at the NM Aggie Invitational and had their lowest team totals of the season with 877.
At the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Garner shot 69 in the first round and totaled 221 by the end of the tournament. She shot five-over-par and tied for sixth place. BYU finished in fourth place.
The Cougars are done with their fall competitions. Their next tournament is the Matador Invitational on Feb. 9-10 in Simi Valley, Calif.
