PROVO, Utah – The BYU women’s golf team is ready to kick off its 2014-2015 season this Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 8-9 at the 2014 Hobble Creek Fall Classic in Springville.

BYU is one of 12 teams competing in the invitational, along with 20 individuals. Utah Valley, Southern Utah and Weber State are among the teams participating in this two-day tournament. Cougar fans will be able to watch their team play locally, the only time this season fans will get this opportunity.

“It’s our home course. We’re very familiar with it,” head coach Carrie Roberts said. “We expect to play well and to really perform at our best.”

After finishing in the top three in four tournaments last season, the Cougars are anxious to build off of those successes.

“We’re excited. We’re young, but we’re talented,” Roberts said. “It looks to be a very, very exciting season.”

BYU returns junior Lea Garner and sophomore Alexandra White who were both named to the 2014 All-WCC Women’s Golf Team. At last year’s event at Hobble Creek, Garner won the individual title.

Roberts is expecting big things from the two freshmen on the team, Sierra Harr and Kendra Dalton.

“We have two freshmen that will start,” Roberts said. “We think they will be very competitive for travelling for us.”

Tee time is at 8:30 am each day at the Hobble Creek Golf Course. The field will play two rounds on Monday and one on Tuesday. There will be no live stats for this tournament.
