Yacaman and Yang named to WGCA All-American Scholar Team
CORAL SPRINGS, Florida – The Women’s Golf Coaches Association named BYU women’s golfers junior Maria Yacaman and freshman Annie Yang to the All-American Scholar Team on Wednesday, July 2.
Athletes are selected to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 throughout their academic career. A total of 664 women’s collegiate golfers in Division I, II and III were recognized with this prestigious honor.
Yacaman, from Bogota, Colombia, graduated this year in information systems management. She was also named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team. Yacaman shot a career best 73 in the third round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic this past season. She will compete in her final year of eligibility next season.
In her first year at BYU, Yang had a 3.85 cumulative GPA as a communications premajor. Her best finish of the season was at the Jim West Challenge where she finished in 19th place. Yang, from Vancouver, Canada, shot her career-best 73 in the third round of the Mountain View Invitational.
