TUCSON, Ariz. - Freshman Alexandra White tied for fifth to lead the BYU women's golf team to a seventh-place standing after two rounds of the Mountain View Invitational.

"Alex[andra White] and Lea [Garner] shot 73 each in the second round and helped us a bit," BYU women's golf coach Carrie Roberts said. "If we can clean up a few of those holes, we'll be right there. We need more birdies and less bogeys."

BYU finished the first 36 holes at 19-over-par, trailing sixth-place Minnesota by two strokes. Nebraska placed first after two rounds at 3-over-par with Kent State trailing by five strokes at 8-over-par.

White's fifth place standing finished at 1-over-par with five birdies on the day. Her first-round score of 72 was a team low. Lea Garner tied in 24th place at 4-over-par with six birdies.

Annie Yang tied in 38th place at 7-over-par with Maria Yacaman tying in 42nd place at 8-over-par. Senior Selu Fotu tied in 46h place at 9-over-par.

West Coast Conference foe Gonzaga placed in third at 10-over-par.

The Cougars return to action for the final round on Saturday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. MST. Live stats are not available for this tournament.
