BREMERTON, Wash. – Lea Garner shot a two-over 74 to steady BYU to a third place standing after two rounds of play at the West Coast Conference Golf Championships Tuesday.

BYU shot a second round 313 (+25) to remain in third place at 45-over-par through 36 holes. No. 24 Pepperdine stands in first place at six-over-par with Gonzaga sitting in second place at 23-over-par.

“I thought we battled very well,” BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. “It’s a tough course and tough conditions. Even though the scores went up a little bit, I thought we battled. Lea’s obviously playing really well which is good. Hopefully she can have a good round tomorrow.”

Coming off an opening round 74, Garner replicated the same score in the second round, converting two birdies and 12 pars. The freshman went two-over-par during her first nine holes before finishing her final nine holes at even par. She stands in fourth place at four-over-par, eight strokes behind leader Grace Na (-4) of Pepperdine.

Junior Annika Kahaiali’i had another strong effort making three birdies and seven pars to shoot a five-over 77. The junior stands in tenth place through 36 holes at 11-over-par.

"Annika played solid all day, just great rhythm and great tempo," Roberts said. "She hit the ball really well. If it weren't for some short putts coming in, she would've had one of the best rounds of the day."

Senior Amanda Keith lowered her first round score by four strokes, carding a second round 79 (+7). Keith birdied two consecutive holes midway through the round and added ten pars on the day.

Selu Fotu and Lauren Atkinson shot scores of 83 and 84, respectively, during today’s second round. Both golfers converted one birdie and eight pars during round two

The third and final round begins tomorrow morning with tee times set to start at 8:10 a.m. PDT. Follow live stats at golfstat.com or visit the WCC Golf Championship Central Page at WCCsports.com for scoring updates and video recaps.
