Atkinson claims first WCC All-Academic honors

PROVO, Utah – Lauren Atkinson was named to the 2012-13 West Coast Conference Women’s Golf All-Academic Team, the league announced Friday.
Atkinson, a sophomore studying Comparative Literature received her first WCC All-Academic Team honors after earning a 3.56 cumulative grade point average. She competed in eight tournaments for the Cougars this season, including two tournaments as an individual competitor.
Her best finish on the season came at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, where she shot a 16-over 232 to tie for 33rd place. The Bow, Wash. native distinguished herself as an All-Academic team member by maintaining a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA, while also participating in at least 50 percent of the team’s tournaments.
Atkinson and the BYU women’s golf team will compete in the West Coast Conference Golf Championships April 15-17 in Bremerton, Wash. Follow the three-day tournament live on golfstat.com.
