PROVO, Utah – The NCAA announced today that BYU has been selected to host NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Mountain Region Championships in 2018 and 2021 at East Bay Golf Course.

Each year the NCAA hosts nine Region Championships in cross country (West, Mountain, Midwest, South Central, Great Lakes, South, Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast). The top two finishers in each region receive automatic bids to the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

The Cougars last hosted an NCAA Cross Country Region Championship in 2011, also at East Bay Golf Course. That year the BYU men took first while the women placed fourth. Miles Batty led the way for the Cougar men by winning the individual title while Morgan Haws was the top finisher for the women, taking second.
