Affleck, Hudson Earn MWC All-Academic
PROVO -- BYU pitcher Paige Affleck and outfielder Alexandra Hudson earned Academic All-MWC as announced by the Mountain West Conference on Tuesday.
The award is the third in three years for Affleck, a graduate student working toward a master's degree in exercise physiology. Affleck was also named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII First Team earlier in the year. The Cougars' ace this past season, Affleck just completed her junior year, setting a BYU season record with 32 wins and is the school record holder in career wins and strikeouts.
Hudson, a freshman from Everett, Wash., earned her first Academic All-MWC honor after completing her initial year at BYU as an open major. Last season Hudson played in 37 games and started in 27 while batting .319 with 23 hits including eight doubles and one home run.
In all, the BYU athletic program led all other MWC programs with 149 spring selections, 32 more than second-place New Mexico.
