Affleck Name Academic All-District
BYU pitcher Paige Affleck was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team for district eight Thursday for her success in the circle and in the classroom.
Affleck, a junior from New Harmony, Utah, earned her associates degree before graduating high school and boasts a 3.56 in graduate studies of exercise physiology.
Affleck recently passed Summer Tobias on the single-season wins list in a 2-1 victory over San Diego State. Affleck is already the BYU career leader in strikeouts and is creeping up on the career wins record.
In nine Mountain West Conference appearances, Affleck is 6-2, with a 2.13 ERA, five complete games, and 51 strikeouts in 52 innings of work. She is second in the MWC in strikeouts, with 190 on the season.
Joining Affleck from the MWC on the first team is UNLV senior outfielder Marissa Nichols. San Diego State outfielder Brittany Knudsen and UNLV Sr. Kendall Fearn were named to the second team.
