Delahoussaye Named Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – BYU junior second baseman Kristin Delahoussaye and San Diego State junior right-hander Samantha Beasley have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

The award is the team's fourth Player of the Week after Angeline Quiocho was named the week's best player for Mar. 11 and Mar. 30 and Paige Affleck won for Pitcher of the Week for Mar. 30.

Delahoussaye, a Las Vegas, Nev., product, batted .647 (11-for-17) with three doubles, one triple, six RBI and nine runs scored, as the Cougars went 5-0 on the week, including a 3-0 record in Conference play. In BYU’s doubleheader sweep of Idaho State (6-2 and 11-5), she went 5-for-7 from the plate overall. In game one, Delahoussaye went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored, while going 1-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored in game two. In the Cougars’ 12-4 win over Conference foe Colorado State, Delahoussaye went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and one run scored. In an 11-6 game one win over New Mexico, she went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored. In a 6-1 game two win over the Lobos, Delahoussaye went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Defensively, she had 16 putouts, eight assists and one error over five games.

Beasley, a San Diego, Calif., native, tossed two complete-game shutouts to help the Aztecs sweep UNLV last week. In 14.0 innings on the mound, she struck out 17 and walked five, while giving up just six hits (all singles). In a 3-0 game one win, Beasley struck out 11 of 25 batters faced, while scattering three hits and giving up no walks. In SDSU’s 3-0 game two victory, she allowed three hits, while striking out five batters.
