Home Opener Starts League Play

PROVO -- Mountain West Conference play opens this week when BYU plays UNLV and San Diego State in its home opener at Gail Miller Field beginning Thursday.
The Cougars (18-10, 0-0 MWC) will play doubleheaders with the Rebels on Thursday and the Aztecs Friday. Both twinbills start at 5 p.m.
BYU is coming off its toughest road trip of the season. The Cougars went 1-4 last week playing against two ranked squads in Oregon.
BYU has won eight consecutive MWC games dating back to last season. The Cougars are the reigning MWC regular season and tournament champions.
Friday's 5 p.m. contest with SDSU will be televised on BYU TV with veteran broadcasters Jay Monson and Gary Sheide providing commentary.
