PROVO -- After an offensive outburst that led to a Texas A&M Invitational Championship, the BYU softball team looks to continue its success at the Stanford Classic.

The Cougars, now 14-5, outscored their opponents 37-8 while going 4-1 in the tournament held in College Station, Texas. After losing the first game of the tournament, 3-2, in heartbreaking fashion to 14th-ranked tournament host, BYU bounced back with two consecutive wins by the eight-run rule.

This week, BYU will try to keep its winning ways going when it squares off against three teams that the Cougars have never faced. BYU will get its first shot at Middle Tennessee State (6-14-1), Miami (Ohio) (12-8) and Wisconsin (4-6). The Cougars will also play Pacific (8-8) and No. 5 Stanford (17-4).

"Our bats obviously came alive this weekend," BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said last week of the Cougars' offensive production.

BYU will look to extend its season-high win streak of four games. The Cougars start the tournament playing MTSU Thursday at 2 p.m. (MST) before finishing the tournament with a pair of doubleheaders Friday and Saturday.
