COLLEGE STATION -- Less than 24 hours after BYU dropped a heartbreaker to No. 14 Texas A&M, the Cougars exacted revenge in the form of an 8-0 drubbing of the Aggies Friday afternoon.

BYU swept the two games of its Friday doubleheader, getting a 2-1 victory of College of Charleston in game one.

"This is as good as we've played all year," BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. "We are getting closer to where we want to be as a team."

The Cougars pitching dominated in both games. Pitching her first complete game of the season Brooke Boyce-Humbert held College of Charleston to just one run on five hits. Daniella Urincho followed with a one-hit, five-inning shut out of the 14th-ranked team in the nation.

"Our pitching was awesome," Eakin said. "Brooke threw a heckuva game. She had great command of her pitches today. Dani was dominant."

In game one, it was Charleston that jumped to an early lead. The Charleston Cougars scored once in the third inning when they strung together a pair of infield hits with a pair of sacrifice bunts to go ahead 1-0.

BYU pounced back in the next half-inning, when Paige Paramore laced a RBI double to tie the game at one. Pinch runner Krystle Chamberlain scored on the play.

The game stagnated until the top of the seventh when the Cougars got two runners aboard with two outs in the inning. BYU's Emi Snow came up with a clutch RBI single to give the Cougars a 2-1 advantage. Boyce-Humbert retired the side in order in the bottom half of the seventh to secure the win.

Against Texas A&M Urincho held the dangerous Aggies' bats silent the whole game giving up only one hit.

With no score in the bottom of the fourth, Chamberlain used her speed to get on base with a bunt single. Ashlyn Russell followed by nailing her first home run of the season to put the Cougars ahead, 2-0.

In the bottom of the fifth, BYU's bats exploded. After the Cougars' first hitter recorded an out to start the inning, seven consecutive BYU hitters reached base. The Cougars scored a total of six runs to end the game by virtue of the eight-run rule. Russell came up with a game-winning, two-run single.

BYU looks to finish strong at the Texas A&M invitational when it finishes tomorrow with games against Texas Southern and a rematch with College of Charleston.

"This is a hostile environment to play in," Eakin said. "We've had a good showing at this tournament and have been playing very well against good competition."
