Moffat-Korth, Williams sweep final WCC weekly honors of the season
MURRIETA, Calif. — BYU softball's Autumn Moffat-Korth and Taylei Williams swept the final West Coast Conference weekly honors of the season, the conference announced Monday. Williams was named co-player of the week alongside Andrea Gonzalez of LMU, with Moffat-Korth receiving pitcher of the week honors.
During BYU's four wins last week, Moffat-Korth earned three consecutive wins over WCC opponent Saint Mary's, including a full-game shutout. Through 15.2 innings pitched, Moffat-Korth allowed just one walk and one unearned run, with 12 total strikeouts.
Williams led the conference last week with a .667 batting average. She assisted the team in a series sweep over Saint Mary's where the Cougars outscored the Gaels 31-1. She homered four times, along with two doubles in the win over Utah State on Tuesday. On the week, Williams generated four doubles, with two stolen bases and three RBI. Williams is the third-consecutive Cougar to win player of the week, with Marissa Chavez winning on May 2 and Violet Zavodnik on May 9.
Overall, this is Moffat-Korth's fourth weekly honor, and Williams' second. Today's pair of awards is also the second time BYU has swept awards this year. In the 2022 season, BYU softball players accounted for 11 weekly honors out of the 29 given by the WCC.
