Six Cougars receive WCC All-Academic honors

SAN MATEO, Calif. — BYU softball had six student-athletes recognized for their success both on the field and in the classroom when the West Coast Conference announced its 2021 All-Academic honors on Friday. 

Rylee Jensen, Autumn Moffat-Korth and Taylei Williams were named to the All-Academic First Team. Jensen and Williams are receiving their second-straight First Team honor. 

An exercise and wellness major out of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jensen recorded a 3.42 GPA through five years at BYU. The senior had a .393 batting average this season, good for second on the team. Jensen also set school records in career runs, career doubles, games started and games played. She also finished the season tied for 12th in the NCAA with 20 home runs.

In four years at BYU, Moffat-Korth, a physical education coaching and teaching major from Eagle, Idaho, has earned a 3.55 GPA. Moffat-Korth led the team with 22 wins this year, posting a 2.10 ERA with 174 strikeouts. From the plate, she also tallied 11 hits and nine RBI, scoring two runs.

Williams, an exercise and wellness major hailing from Mona, Utah, holds a 3.93 GPA through three years at BYU. Williams recorded 14 hits, 3 RBI and 18 runs this season. 

Also recognized were Erin Miklus, HannahJo Peterson and Alyssa Podhurcak, who were named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. 

Podhurcak, a junior infielder, holds a 3.74 GPA. Peterson, a senior right fielder, has earned a 3.33 GPA, and Miklus, a second baseman earned a 3.0 GPA.
