SAN MATEO, Calif. – For the first time in West Coast Conference softball history, Arissa Paulson has won both Player and Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Paulson finished the week with an overall 1.43 ERA with three appearances and struck out a season-high 10 batters against SUU, one away from a career record. Against SUU, the senior tossed a complete-game shutout win with 10 strikeouts while holding the Thunderbirds hitless through five. Paulson also pitched three scoreless innings against Stanford allowing only one hit and three strikeouts.

On top of her performance as a pitcher, the Arizona native finished the week with a .500 overall batting average with 12 plate appearances and six hits. The senior also knocked a three-run homer against Stanford to take the lead in the bottom of the first inning. In the doubleheader against Boise State, she went 4 for 6 including going 2 for 2 in the first game. The right-handed pitcher closed out the weekend hitting a double against SUU while also tallying an RBI and a run herself.

This is BYU's fourth and fifth WCC weekly award this season, as Rylee Jensen and Autumn Moffat-Korth swept the award the first week and Alyssa Podhurcak grabbed Player of the Week on March 16.
