Each Wednesday until the season opener on Feb. 8, two of the six new freshmen on this year's softball roster will be featured on the website. Check back every Wednesday to meet the newcomers.

No. 13 Bridget Fleener

Freshman catcher/first baseman from Camarillo, California

Why did you come to BYU?
Well, I really enjoyed the family environment and the campus is absolutely beautiful. I also really liked how the coaching staff treats their players.

When/why did you start playing softball?
I started playing softball when I was 4. I started playing because almost everyone in my whole family besides my mom played baseball, so I had to play softball.

What is your favorite softball memory?
My favorite softball memory was from my senior year of high school. I hit the game-tying, two-run homerun in the first round of the CIF.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?
Australia. Honestly, I’ve always wanted to go ever since I saw the movie “Finding Nemo.”

What is the most embarrassing song on your phone/iPod?
I downloaded the whole “Frozen” album, so I would say that’s the most embarrassing thing on there, haha.

What is your dream job?
Becoming the head physical therapist at my own business.

No. 17 Erin Miklus

Freshman second baseman from Altoona, Iowa

Why did you come to BYU?
I came to BYU to play softball and I really liked all the coaches. I knew it was a really good school. I also liked the mountains.

Who do you look up to and why?
I look up to my older brothers because they have worked so hard to get where they are.

Favorite sport besides softball?
My brothers wrestle, so I always loved watching wrestling.

What is one thing few people know about you?
I can do a backflip.

What is the most embarrassing song on your phone/iPod?
“Some Call It Magic” by Raven-Symoné

What is your favorite thing about BYU?
Playing softball and making new friends.
