Kaylee Erickson returning from LDS mission, will rejoin team in fall

PROVO, Utah — Sophomore catcher Kaylee Erickson has returned from her missionary service for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and will rejoin the team this fall, BYU softball head coach Gordon Eakin has announced.

"We are excited that Kaylee is returning to BYU softball after completing her mission," Eakin said. "She is a high level hitter and catcher. We look for her to do great things on and off the field."

Erickson spent the last 18 months serving in the Boise, Idaho area and returned home last month. The Phoenix, Arizona native played for the Cougars in the COVID-shortened 2020 season and in 2021, earning All-WCC Honorable Mention honors in her second year at BYU.

Between the two seasons, Erickson played in 39 total games, starting in 25 of them. She tallied 17 runs and 17 hits, including five doubles and one home run. For her career, Erickson is batting .254, with a .463 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .311.
