Rested Cougars travel for three-game series against the Longhorns
PROVO, Utah – Fresh off of a bye weekend, BYU softball is back in action this Friday and Saturday, playing three games against the Texas Longhorns in Austin, Texas.
Last Tuesday, BYU (19-12) played its first home game, defeating Utah Valley in an 8-0 mercy-rule game that ended after five innings. Lauren Bell and Madison Merrell led the effort with two RBI each. McKenna Bull was strong from the circle, throwing seven strikeouts and allowing just two hits. This past weekend was the first without any games for the Cougars all season.
Texas (20-8) is riding off of a win over in-state rival Texas State, 3-2. The Longhorns started off the season with an 11-game win streak before falling against Tulsa toward the end of February.
The last time the Cougars faced the Longhorns was in the 2010 NCAA Regional when BYU beat No. 7 Texas in Austin to advance to the Super Regionals for the first time in program history.
BYU and Texas will play three games starting Friday at 5 p.m. CDT and concluding with a doubleheader on Saturday at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. CDT. All three games will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network and on WatchESPN.com. Streaming audio will also be available on TexasSports.com/audio. Live stats will be available on the schedule page.
