BYU falls 4-3 to SLCC after late rally
PROVO, Utah – BYU softball gave up four runs in the top of the seventh to fall to Salt Lake Community College 4-3 in a scrimmage Friday night.
“We played phenomenal defense for six innings, as good a defense as I've seen us play in a lot of years," BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. "But it just fell apart in the seventh inning. We have to give Salt Lake Community College credit for hanging around and taking advantage of our miscues in the seventh inning."
In the top of the seventh, the Cougars were up 3-0 until the Bruins went on a late rally and scored four runs off of three BYU errors.
The Cougars went up early, scoring two runs in the first inning. Coco Tauali’i scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead to 3-0.
Up next in the Cougars’ fall exhibition schedule is a doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 17. BYU will play Southern Utah University at 1:30 p.m. MDT and Boise State right after at 4:00 p.m. Those scrimmages are open to the public.
