Bell's three RBI and two runs lead BYU to 7-3 win over UVU
PROVO, Utah – Lauren Bell singled, doubled and tripled in a 7-3 win over Utah Valley University in a scrimmage Wednesday night at Gail Miller Field.
“I was impressed with our team's ability to answer back in the first two innings after falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first,” BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. “We built a nice lead and then played great defense to finish the game.”
The Cougars earned seven runs on 10 hits in the exhibition game. The offense was led by Bell’s three RBI and two runs scored. Emilee Erickson also had a good day for BYU, going 2 for 3 at the plate. UVU had three runs on five hits.
McKenna Bull pitched five innings, giving up two runs and allowing three hits. Arianna Paulson pitched the last two innings, giving up one run on two hits in relief of Bull.
Next up for the Cougars is Salt Lake Community College at 5 p.m. MDT on Friday at Gail Miller Field. The scrimmage will be open to the public.
