Four Cougars named NFCA Division I All-America Scholar-Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Four BYU softball players were named 2014-15 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-America Scholar-Athletes on Tuesday.

Lacey Hofstedt and Brittany Call, former Cougars, were honorees along with current players Lauren Bell and Arianna Paulson. These players achieved this recognition by maintaining a 3.5 grade-point average.

Hofstedt was named an Academic All-American after her 2014-15 senior season, the first BYU athlete recognized since 2012.

The Cougars are fresh off their 11th consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament, seventh straight conference title and first 40-win season since 2012. The team finished the the 2015 season with a 40-14 record, 13-2 in the West Coast Conference.

BYU continues its fall exhibition play on Wednesday at home against Utah Valley University at 5 p.m. MDT. The game is open to the public.
