SAN BRUNO, Calif. - First baseman/pitcher Ashley Thompson and pitcher McKenna Bull have been named the West Coast Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Thompson fueled the offensive and defensive efforts as BYU clinched four victories to push its winning streak to nine games last week. She hit 8-for-13 for a .615 batting average including two doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI to go along with two stolen bases in wins over Utah Valley and Pacific.

She tied a school record for hits in a game with her 5-for-5 performance in the nightcap of the WCC doubleheader with Pacific Friday. She drove in a career-high six runs and is the first Cougar since Jess Fitu in 2011 to record five hits in a game.

Last week Bull notched three victories, helping BYU up its record to 29-8 on the season. The pitcher out of Ogden, Utah, improved to 25-5 while helping the Cougars to its second-straight sweep in WCC play as they defeated Pacific three times in Provo. Bull recorded a 0.91 ERA while registering a combined shutout and a complete-game shutout, allowing only four hits and two earned runs in 15.1 innings pitched to go along with seven strikeouts. She currently has the third most wins in a season in BYU history while holding opposing batters to a .083 average at the plate last week.

BYU currently has a 6-0 league record and are 9-1 in their last 10 meetings. So far this season, the Cougars have strung together win streaks of four or more games four times.

This is Thompson's first-career weekly honor, while Bull collects her fifth-career selection.
