McKenzie St. Clair named inaugural WCC Player of the Week
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named redshirt freshman McKenzie St. Clair its Softball Player of the Week for February 10, 2014.
In the first action of her career, St. Clair led the Cougars in almost every statistical category in the Red Desert Classic. She finished the weekend hitting .667 with two home runs, seven RBIs, seven runs, a .714 on base percentage and a 1.250 slugging percentage in five games. She was responsible for 14 of the 33 runs scored by BYU.
St. Clair got her first career start against Southern Utah and hit a two-run homerun and drew a walk in her only two at bats. She added another two-run homerun against Nevada and was a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs against East Carolina.
Jenny Lahite of San Diego was named WCC Pitcher of the Week.
BYU heads to the Easton Desert Classic in Las Vegas this week and begin with a game against Seattle University at 6:45 p.m. PST.
