Howell notches first PCSC Pitcher of the Week honor
PROVO, Utah—Senior pitcher Hannah Howell garnered her first Pacific Coast Softball Conference Pitcher of the Week honor for her performance against Santa Clara on Friday and Saturday.
Howell, who pitched BYU softball’s second perfect game in school history against Loyola Marymount on Apr. 13, has a career record of 38-25 at BYU alongside 336 strikeouts and a 2.87 ERA.
In the last two weeks of conference play, Howell has compiled a record of 4-1 in 23.0 innings pitched. Against Santa Clara, she grabbed a record of 2-0 after holding the Broncos scoreless on just three hits in 12.0 innings pitched.Howell is 7-2 in conference play with a 1.14 ERA and just eight earned runs given up in nine appearances.
Brittany Sabatini of Saint Mary’s was named PCSC Player of the Week for her .444 batting average, two home runs and four runs scored in the team’s seriesagainst CSU Bakersfield. Other top performers include BYU’s JC Clayton who hit .500 alongside five runs scored against Santa Clara, Utah Valley’s Kylee Brinkerhoff and San Diego’s Chloe Kaneko.
Other top performances from the mound include San Diego’s Cassidy Coleman, Utah Valley’s Tiffany Mills and Saint Mary’s Lujane Mussadi.
BYU returns home on Friday to kick off an 11-game home stand, starting with a doubleheader against CSU Bakersfield set to begin at 5 p.m. MDT.
