PROVO, Utah--Continuing BYU's collection of postseason honors, two men's tennis players were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association with scholar-athlete status for the 2012-13 school year.

Junior Travis Fillmore and freshman John Pearce earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status during the school year that included BYU's third NCAA tournament appearance in the last four years. It was the first time since 2006 that a BYU player achieved this award.

Fillmore saw action on the No. 2 doubles team with senior Spencer Smith while contributing to BYU's undefeated season in region play. The civil engineering major was also named to the WCC Commissioner's Silver Honor Roll for this past year and had a team-high 9-4 mark for the fall season.

Pearce collected the academic honor in his first season as a Cougar. The Timpview High product split his playing time between No. 5 and No. 6 singles while also competing at No. 3 doubles with Keaton Cullimore. Pearce accumulated a singles record of 24-14 and a doubles record of 18-11 for the year.
