Cougars Continue Through Day Two

LONG BEACH, Calif. –  The Cougar swim team maintained through day two of the annual Arena Invite, with the men finishing in seventh place at 286 points and the women in ninth place with 282 points.

The men’s 200 medley relay placed seventh with Jordan Fletcher, Brady Wells, David Armstrong and Garret Beaman reaching a time of 1:31.31.

Allie Dodds placed 15th in the 400 IM with a final time of 4:24.95, while Rafael Alfaro took 12th in the same event with a prelim time of 3:58.43 and a finals time of 3:59.55.

Kim Welch landed eighth place, swimming a preliminary time of 54.95 before posting a finals time of 54.92 in the 100 fly.

Armstrong grabbed 10th place with a time of 49.91 in the same event, while teammate Fletcher followed in 15th place with his time of 50.39.

Wells finished in sixth place with an impressive time of 56.21 in the 100 breast finals. Kasssandra Bispo swam a 1:04.02 to put her in 14th place in the women’s heat.

Hailey Campbell took seventh in the 100 backstroke finals, earning an NCAA B-cut time of 55.11.

The women’s 800 free relay team of Angela Bennion, Amy Xu, Campbell and Dodds posted a time of 7:31.85, placing 11th in the finals.
