Watson Heads To Germany For Grand Prix
PROVO, Utah -- BYU diver Brandon Watson has been chosen to represent the United States in a Grand Prix Meet taking place in Germany next week.
“I am excited to be able to move to the next level of competition and compete against some of the worlds best,” said Watson. “I think it’s going to be a great experience.”
During the regular season, Watson competed in Indoor Nationals that took place in Iowa City, Iowa, from January 30-February 6. While there, he took first place in the 1-meter and fifth place in the 3-meter. Due to his success and national recognition, Watson was chosen to be one of the few divers to represent the United States for the Grand Prix meet in Germany.
“Brandon’s a competitor,” said BYU head diving coach, Keith Russell. “He always competes at his best and if he can do that, then I know he will do really well. This is going to be a great experience for him because it will take his diving to the next level.”
Watson will arrive in Germany on the 23rd and compete until the 27th. While there, he will be competing in the 3-meter against Olympian divers from around the world. Joining him will be two other American divers along with Dan Laak, the head coach from the University of Georgia.
