PROVO -- Traveling to Salt Lake, the BYU swim and dive team will face off with in-state rival Utah on Friday night at 6p.m.

The BYU women boast an 8-1 overall record and a 6-1 record in the Mountain West Conference, while the Utah women are 8-3 overall and 5-2 MWC.

The BYU men post a 3-3 overall record and 1-3 in the MWC, while the men are 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the MWC.

“We’re looking forward to this meet and I know we can be successful if we really swim at our best,” BYU head coach Tim Powers said. “It’s going to be tough for both the men and women, but I feel confident with our times and we should have some good races.”

The women are confident, coming off of a double win last weekend against Texas Christian University and University of New Mexico.

The men’s team will be at a disadvantage with junior diver Brandon Watson attending the USA Diving Winter National Olympics this weekend in Iowa instead of competing against Utah. Watson recently won the 1-meter title and will continue to compete throughout the weekend.

The BYU men and women’s teams will look to end their regular season on a win before heading into post-season swim. Friday’s meet marks the last duel meet before MWC Championships in Oklahoma City on Feb. 23-26.
